Afghanistan Freedom Front Claims Attack Killed Two Taliban Members in Nuristan

DID Press: Afghanistan Freedom Front said its fighters carried out a guerrilla attack on a Taliban compound in eastern Afghanistan’s Nuristan province on Saturday night, killing two Taliban members and wounding four others.

In a statement, the group said the attack targeted a Taliban compound in Doab district. It claimed that two Taliban members were killed and at least four others wounded, while its fighters returned to their positions without suffering casualties.

Anti-Taliban groups have expanded their operations across several Afghan provinces in recent weeks. Reports indicate that at least 15 attacks were carried out in nine provinces during the week ending Aug. 7, with opposition groups claiming that more than 30 Taliban members were killed.

The Afghanistan Freedom Front has also claimed responsibility for a rocket attack on Kabul airport and an ambush targeting a Taliban convoy in Badakhshan. The continued attacks by anti-Taliban groups point to growing pressure on the Taliban in several parts of Afghanistan.

From Nuristan to Badakhshan and Kabul, the reported expansion of opposition operations could indicate greater coordination among anti-Taliban groups and efforts to strengthen their presence in mountainous and strategically important areas.

The claims could not be independently verified.
