Pakistan’s Interior Minister Travels to Tehran for Regional Talks

DID Press: Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has traveled to Tehran for talks with senior Iranian officials on bilateral and regional issues.

During his visit, Naqvi is expected to discuss relations between Pakistan and Iran as well as broader regional developments.

Pakistan had previously played a mediating role between Iran and the United States, but the effort stalled following what Tehran described as a breach of the ceasefire by Washington.

Pakistani sources say Islamabad is still seeking to bring Iran and the United States back to the negotiating table. Tehran, however, has said that it will not enter negotiations unless the United States accepts Iran’s conditions.

The visit comes amid continued diplomatic efforts to ease regional tensions and revive dialogue between Tehran and Washington.
