France Arrests 8,000 in Connection With High School Student Protests

DID Press: France’s Ministry of Justice has reported that around 8,000 people have been arrested amid protests by high school students across the country, with 85% of those detained reportedly under the age of 18.

According to the report, the protesting students are demanding increased investment in education, measures to address teacher shortages and improvements in learning conditions.

The demonstrations are continuing as concerns over educational quality and a lack of teaching staff remain central to the students’ demands.
