Muttaqi Calls for Reopening of Afghanistan Embassy in Tokyo
DID Press: Afghanistan’s acting Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi has called for the reopening of Afghanistan’s embassy in Tokyo, which has remained inactive for more than six months amid diplomatic disagreements between Japan and the Taliban.

Speaking to a Japanese media outlet, Muttaqi highlighted what he described as close relations between Afghanistan and Japan and called for the resolution of a dispute between Kabul and Tokyo over Japan’s acceptance of Taliban-appointed diplomats.
The Afghan diplomatic mission in Tokyo has been inactive for more than six months as the two sides remain at odds over the status and recognition of Taliban diplomats.
