Afghanistan Freedom Front Claims Two Taliban Members Killed in Kabul Attack

DID Press: Afghanistan Freedom Front (AFF) said its forces attacked a Taliban checkpoint in the Sarai Shamali area of Kabul on Wednesday night, killing two Taliban members and wounding two others.

According to a statement issued by the group, the attack took place at around 8:50 p.m. on Wednesday, September 16, in Sarai Shamali, in Kabul’s 11th security district. The group claimed that two Taliban members were killed and two others wounded.

Local sources and eyewitnesses reported hearing a relatively powerful explosion in the area at about the same time. Afghanistan International reported that the Freedom Front later claimed responsibility for the blast, saying the target was a Taliban checkpoint.

The Taliban have not publicly commented on the reported attack or casualty figures. The casualties claimed by the Freedom Front could therefore not be independently verified.

The Freedom Front linked the incident to broader security concerns in Afghanistan, arguing that neighboring and regional countries remain concerned about the presence and expansion of terrorist and extremist groups in the country.

The group also cited previous United Nations reporting on security incidents in Afghanistan. According to recent UN reporting cited by Etilaatroz, armed opposition groups claimed responsibility for 88 attacks between May 1 and July 31, while the UN independently verified 55 of those incidents.
