KP Chief Minister Calls for Border Reopening and Renewed Engagement with Kabul

DID Press: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has criticized Pakistan’s policy toward Afghanistan, calling for renewed engagement with Kabul, the reopening of border crossings and a change in previous policies to promote peace and reduce insecurity.

Afridi criticized Islamabad’s approach toward Afghanistan, saying that continuing past policies had not produced the desired results. He argued that reducing insecurity in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa requires renewed engagement with Afghanistan’s ruling authorities.

He also called for reopening the borders and creating conditions for greater interaction between the two sides.

The chief minister warned that any “adventurism” could have undesirable consequences, saying that achieving security and peace requires a different approach based on engagement.
