Taliban Declares 49 Housing Developments State-Owned Land in 12 Afghan Provinces

DID Press: Taliban’s Ministry of Justice says 49 housing developments across 12 Afghan provinces have been identified as being located wholly or partly on state-owned land.

Barakatullah Rasooli, a spokesperson for the ministry, said the findings were made during inspections conducted under the Taliban’s commission for preventing land grabbing and recovering land it considers to have been illegally seized.

The housing developments are located in Kabul, Balkh, Nangarhar, Ghazni, Maidan Wardak, Kandahar, Helmand, Jawzjan, Samangan, Baghlan, Parwan and Kunduz provinces.

The ministry said inspections of residential developments would continue as part of efforts to identify and recover land classified by the Taliban authorities as state property.

The ministry has not released further details about the owners of the affected developments or how the decisions could affect residents.
