DID Press: US Embassy in Saudi Arabia has made special authorization a requirement for U.S. government personnel using three major Saudi airports in Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam, citing heightened security concerns and recent attacks targeting King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh.

According to the embassy, the restriction was initially imposed on King Khalid International Airport and has since been extended to the airports in Jeddah and Dammam.
Following the reported attacks on King Khalid International Airport, the embassy also advised U.S. citizens to avoid the airport and surrounding areas and to exercise increased caution when using major airports across Saudi Arabia.
The advisory warned of possible flight cancellations, airspace closures and travel disruptions. Travelers were urged to contact their airlines and airports directly for the latest information on flight schedules and operations.
The restrictions follow a deadly attack on Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport on October 10 that killed 12 people and injured more than 300, according to reports. The attack has intensified concerns about aviation safety and the risk of further strikes attributed to Yemen’s Houthi movement.
