Afghanistan Grades Private Hospitals Based on Quality of Care

DID Press: Mawlawi Abdul Salam Hanafi, Deputy Prime Minister for Administrative Affairs, has announced that private hospitals in Afghanistan have been classified into three categories based on the quality of their healthcare services.

Speaking at a ceremony announcing the results of the accreditation and grading process, Hanafi said hospitals would be required to charge patients according to the price schedules assigned to their respective categories.

He said the initiative was introduced in response to public complaints about high treatment costs and poor-quality services at private hospitals.

Hanafi added that the grading process had been carried out by a comprehensive team from the Ministry of Public Health. He said hospitals could be upgraded to the first category by improving the quality of their healthcare services.

The initiative is intended to improve healthcare standards and address concerns over the cost of treatment at private medical facilities.
