Adams Criticizes Khalilzad Over Claims of Pakistani Support for Anti-Taliban Forces

DID Press: A former officer of US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) has criticized former US Special Representative for Afghanistan Zalmay Khalilzad over his recent remarks about Pakistan allegedly arming some Afghan citizens.

Sarah Adams, a former CIA officer, accused Khalilzad of reinforcing the Taliban’s narrative against Afghanistan’s resistance forces by amplifying claims that Pakistan was arming opponents of the Taliban.

In a post on the social media platform X, Adams said Khalilzad was echoing the Taliban’s narrative against Afghan resistance forces rather than offering an independent analysis.

She described the claims about the arming of Taliban opponents as part of what she characterized as the group’s psychological warfare.

Khalilzad had earlier claimed that multiple reports had emerged alleging that Pakistan was arming Afghan citizens to fight the Taliban.
