DID Press: Parliamentarians from BRICS member states have called for the swift completion of negotiations on a comprehensive international convention against terrorism and its adoption under the auspices of the United Nations.

The call was made in a joint statement issued at the 12th BRICS Parliamentary Forum. The statement emphasized strengthening international cooperation to combat terrorism, taking coordinated action against terrorist individuals and organizations in accordance with UN decisions, and holding those responsible for and supporting terrorist activities accountable.
BRICS parliamentarians also condemned all acts of terrorism, regardless of where or when they occur or who carries them out. They stressed that terrorism should not be attributed to any religion, nationality, civilization or ethnic group.
The statement also condemned the April 22, 2025, terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir, India, which it said killed 26 people and injured several others. Other key priorities outlined in the statement included preventing the cross-border movement of terrorists, disrupting terrorist financing and denying safe havens to those involved in terrorist activities.
The 12th BRICS Parliamentary Forum was held in New Delhi, hosted by India, which holds the group’s rotating presidency this year.
