Araghchi: No More Red Lines in Response to Attacks on Iran

DID Press: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has warned that any attack against Iran or its people would trigger a devastating response from the country’s armed forces, saying that “there are no more red lines.”

Araghchi made the remarks in response to comments by German Chancellor Friedrich Merz about the economic costs of the war.

In a post on X, Araghchi referred to Merz’s earlier statements about US and Israeli attacks on Iran, saying the German chancellor had initially welcomed the attacks and described them as “doing Europe’s dirty work.”

The Iranian foreign minister added that the more than €100 billion Europe has spent on energy costs would be negligible compared with the devastating blow Iran’s powerful armed forces would inflict on its attackers.

“There are no more red lines,” Araghchi wrote.

Merz said on Friday, at the end of his visit to South Korea, that he could only urge all parties involved to accept that “this conflict has no military solution.”

The German chancellor also stressed that Berlin wanted the war to end quickly for economic reasons, noting that rising energy prices had already cost Europe more than €100 billion.
