DID Press: Yair Golan, leader of Israel’s Democrats Party, warned on Sunday, 1 November, that Benjamin Netanyahu could use the prospect of a new military strike against Iran to maintain his hold on power amid political uncertainty following last week’s parliamentary elections.

In a post on X, Golan said the likelihood of another round of confrontation with Iran was increasing, adding that a renewed conflict would demonstrate Netanyahu’s failure to manage the issue.
Criticising Netanyahu’s performance, Golan said the prime minister lacked both the moral legitimacy and the ability required to manage another confrontation with Iran.
The leader of the Democrats Party also called for the formation of an alternative government as soon as possible, warning that Israel’s security and the lives of its citizens were at risk.
His remarks come after last week’s parliamentary elections, in which neither the coalition led by Netanyahu nor the opposition parties secured enough seats to form a government.
Meanwhile, Israeli and US media outlets have reported on the possibility of a joint Israeli-US military strike against Iran following the US midterm congressional elections scheduled for 3 November.
