Iran Orders Direct Cargo Transit Through Dogharoon Border Crossing

DID Press: Governor of Iran’s Razavi Khorasan province has ordered the implementation of a direct cargo transportation plan through the Dogharoon border crossing with Afghanistan, saying the initiative will begin next week to reduce truck delays and transit costs.

Gholamhossein Mozaffari, governor of Razavi Khorasan, issued the directive to launch the plan, which aims to facilitate cargo transfers and lower transportation and transit expenses between the two countries.

Speaking at an economic meeting in the province on Sunday, Mozaffari said delays involving trucks at the Dogharoon border crossing had increased the costs of transporting goods and conducting transit operations.

He also called for the removal of administrative and operational obstacles to the plan and urged the relevant authorities and institutions to finalise a memorandum of understanding by next Sunday.

Dogharoon is one of the key commercial border crossings between Iran and Afghanistan. The implementation of the plan could affect the movement of goods and trade between the two countries.
