Second Afghan Governor Refused to Step down

“I am looking forward to the order of Jamiat-e Islami party,” Khaddam vowed at the press conference.
The local administration led by the president on Saturday dismissed 5 provincial governors, including Samangan governor.
Abdul Latif Ebrahimi has been appointed instead of Mr. Abdul karim Khaddam as governor of the province.
But Samangan governor Abdul Karim Khaddam vowed during a press conference on Sunday that “the current administration is an adaptive government and I will not leave my post until I have been ordered by the head of Jamiat-e Islami party.”
Mr. Khaddam condemned the order of the president, saying I will not step down until Jamiat party order me and Turkmen ethnic agrees on my removal.
This comes as Balk governor and chief executive of Jamiat party Ata M. Noor had previously refused his dismissal by local administration, saying he will leave his post with the agreement of the chief of Jamiat-e Islami and accepting the party’s proposals.
Abdul Latif Ebrahimi is the brother of the head of House of Representatives, who is a member of Hezb-e Islami
