Russia has rejected the financial demands of Taliban group, Said Russian special envoy to Afghanistan Zamir Kabulov.
Zamir Kabulov said at a press conference in Moscow that they (Taliban) can get what they need form inside Afghanistan, “but they (Taliban) only need financial support.”
He said Russia’s contacts with the Taliban aim to ensure the safety of Russian citizens in Afghanistan, adding “If they ask for money, we always answer: ‘Sorry, we have no money.”

Referring to the political solution in Afghanistan, Mr. Kabulov said that Russia is not opposed to removing the name of the Taliban from the UN sanctions list, as long as the group starts “real talks” with the government of Afghanistan, according to BBC.

This comes as the commander of US forces in Afghanistan Gen. John Nicholson claimed that Russia supports the Taliban and even provide them weapons.

General John Nicholson has said that he has seen Russia’s “instability” measures in Afghanistan.
Russia has always denied US accusations, including in response to Mr. Nicholson’s remarks, saying there was no evidence for this claim.
