Sadat people put up justice tent in northern Balkh province, asking the Afghan government to insert their identity in the new electronic ID cards (tazkiras).
By putting up justice tent, Sadat people launched a justice move, collecting signature to voice their right.

“We do not want the title of other ethnicity be imposed on us and the aim to put up the tent, is to voice justice. We want our ethnicity be inserted in the new e-ID cards and other national documents,” Sayed Reza Hashimi, an organizer of this civil movement told DID press agency.
According to Mr Hashimi, In the early hours, close to a thousand people have signed a roll so far, in which Sadat ethnicity should be recognized as an independent identity.

Dr. Naser Hussaini, a participant in this program said: “I have respect to all ethnic groups of my country, but fabricating my identity as another ethnicity is not acceptable. We demand our government to recognize us with our original identity”.

This comes as Sadat elders have held meetings with the presidential palace while Sadat ethnic group protested in central bamyan province in response to Rola Ghani’s remarks earlier this week.

The president’s wife Rola Ghani considered Sadat ethnic group as a class not ethnicity during a television interview which sparked protests in Afghanistan.
