Unfortunately, the election commission faces a major administrative problem. The third round of the parliamentary elections passed, and the commission has not yet been able to determine the exact date to announce the preliminary and final results of the election. in fact, there is no single narrative about a time to announced the primary and final results of the parliamentary election.
Days ago, the IEC’s spokespersons have said the primary and final result of the election will be published on 4-20 November, but yesterday, the IEC delayed this process to a later time. The IEC said during a press conference that the primary result will be announced on 23 Nov. and the election result of the capital Kabul will be declared on 1 December. When the leadership of the election commission determines a date, it should reject its own decision later.
The issue indicates an instability within the office of the election commission, and it needs to compensate its administrative weakness.
Such performance by the election commission strengthens the belief that the election entity is under the influence of the presidency and has no autonomy. According to some sources, the presidency intends to use from the parliamentary election result in favor of itself in the upcoming presidential election.
The election commission announced the presidential election will be held on 20 April 2019.
The result of the parliamentary election should be announced sooner than this. The election commission is currently involved with the result of the parliamentary election and the presidential election. according to the author, the more the date for the parliamentary results’ announcement delayed, the more the people will lose their trust in the election commission.
