Acting FM Rabbani Arrived in Islamabad for Trilateral Meeting

Afghanistan’s acting Foreign Minister (FM) Salahuddin Rabbani arrived in Islamabad to attend the third round of Afghanistan-Pakistan-China Ministerial dialogue.

Afghanistan’s acting Foreign Minister (FM) Salahuddin Rabbani arrived in Islamabad to attend the third round of Afghanistan-Pakistan-China Ministerial dialogue.
The third round of Afghanistan-Pakistan-China Trilateral Foreign Ministers’ Dialogue will be held at the Pakistani Foreign Office in Islamabad on Saturday.
“The agenda of the dialogue focuses on political relations and the peace process, security cooperation and counter terrorism, and development cooperation and connectivity,” said an announcement from the Pakistani Foreign Office.

State Councilor and Foreign Minister of China Wang Yi at the head of a high-level delegation has reportedly arrived in Islamabad as well.
China had once vowed that it will encourage Pakistan to cooperate with Afghanistan on counterterrorism, using its influence.
Pakistan is accused of supporting anti-Afghan government armed groups as well as not having sincere efforts in the peace process.

The trilateral comes as US envoy Zalmay Khalilzad returned to Qatar for more, unscheduled talks with the Taliban after some deadly terrorist attacks claimed by the Taliban.
When he announced the draft agreement on Monday, Khalilzad said his negotiations with the group had concluded and that the deal lacked only the approval of President Donald Trump.
