After the Grand National Coalition (GNC) disclosed the use of fake national ID cards (Tazkira) during voter registration process, now, president Ghani has tasked a panel to investigate the issue of distributing fake IDs and the installation of electoral sticker on them.
The delegation has been appointed at the head of the Prosecutor General’s Office to investigate the fake process of distributing national ID cards from 1396 to 1397 (solar year).

On Saturday, Afghanistan’s GNC disclosed documents revealing that tens of thousands of original stickers have been installed on fake tazkira.
In response to the disclosures, the Central Civil Registration Authority (ACCRA) said that the IDs displayed by the GNC are “fake” and do not have legal validity.

The IEC has also said the commission is not responsible for registration of ID cards (tazkiras).
The newly formed panel to investigate the issue, composed of representatives from the National Directorate of Security (NDS), the Ministry of Interior Affairs, the Independent Election Commission (IEC), the National Information and Audit Office, as well as the representative of the Central Civil Registration Authority (ACCRA).

The delegation has the authority to introduce the charged individuals to the justice and judicial organs.
Yet, there are no representatives from the political parties and members of the GNC, and it is a governmental panel.
