IEC Removes 35 Candidates / Most are from Kabul

Afghanistan’s Independent Election Commission (IEC) announced the final list of the candidates for parliamentary election on Saturday, eliminating 35 candidates from the final list.


Afghanistan’s Independent Election Commission (IEC) announced the final list of the candidates for parliamentary election on Saturday, eliminating 35 candidates from the final list.
35 candidates for the parliamentary election were removed from the final list by IEC.

Most of the candidates removed from the list are from Kabul and the least are from northern Balkh province. Among the removed candidates are the MPs, well-known and controversial faces.
Fawzia Koofi and Maryam Koofi are the two women from northern Badakhshan province who were removed from the final list as well.

From Balkh province, only Asadullah Sharifi has been removed and those who were previously thought to be removed are not in the final list. Five candidates for the parliamentary election in Balkh province have received a serious warning.
Mawlawi Tarakhil Mohammadi and Ziaulhaq Amarkhil, candidates for the parliamentary election, are the controversial faces who were also eliminated from the final list.

The Electoral Complaint Commission (ECC) has approved the elimination of the 35 candidates for the parliamentary election.
