President M. Ashraf Ghani called on the IEC to declare the date for the upcoming presidential election late Sunday.
Earlier, the CEO Abdullah had called on the Independent Election Commission (IEC) to clarify the date for the presidential election as well.
Visiting the members of the IEC, the special representative of the UN secretary-general and a number of ambassadors from the countries supporting the election process, president Ghani asked the IEC to assure the people about the voter registration process.
Meanwhile, president Ghani called on the IEC to pave the way for political parties, civil society, national and international observers to observe the voter registration process.
On the other hand, Mr Ghani said intervention in the election affairs is considered a crime and the government will take necessary measures to prevent interference in the elections.
Although political parties and election observers emphasize that the ground for fraud in the upcoming election is highly favored, president Ghani says that fraud in the election is considered a crime and the national unity government has a serious intention to hold a transparent election.
The parliamentary and district council elections are scheduled to be held on 20 October 2018.
