The fans of some candidates – removed by ECC from the final list – protested against the decision of the election commissions and closed IEC’s gate Monday morning.
The protesters who gathered in front of the election commissions gate this morning clashed with the police forces.
The protestors are fans of Mulla Tarakhil Mohammadi, Akbar Stanekzai, Qais Hasan, and Shir Ali Ahmadzai – current members of Wolesi Jirga – and Zardad Faryadi, a candidate for the parliamentary election.
The removed candidates emphasize that the election commissions do not have enough reasons to drop their names from the final list, considering it as a political issue by the presidential palace.
The protesters say that eliminating the names of some candidates by the election commissions is an illegal measure, warning the government and IEC that if their demands are not addressed, they will close the IEC’s gate as well as Kabul-Jalalabad high way.
Meanwhile, eyewitnesses say most armed protesters came in black glass cars and closed the IEC’s gate to its staffs.
Footage released on social networks indicate that protesters clashed with the security forces as some protesters are carrying weapons.
The IEC announced the final list of candidates for the parliamentary election on Saturday, eliminating the names of some candidates from the list.
