Ziaulhaq Amarkhil; Safe from Court and Resident of ARG
The political parties and public opinion of the country that participated in the elections significantly demanded that members of the electoral commission’s leadership, including Mr. Ziaulhaq Amarkhail, should be tried in court, which did not happen.
President M. Ashraf Ghani has many advisers. Many of those who clapped for the victory of president Ghani in 2014 election, at least have been appointed as an adviser by him. Ziaulhaq Amarkhail has recently been appointed as the president’s adviser through a verdict by the presidency. Mr Amarkhail is among the disqualified candidates from the upcoming parliamentary election.
President Ghani should compensate the service of those in the election campaign.
Nobody forgot the 2014 presidential scandal on the eve of the upcoming election; the election which was known as “Sheep election”. The foreign media outlets even mention the sheep election while writing something about it.
For the first time, the organized fraud in the past election led to the formation of National Unity Government (NUG). A government that its function has been overwhelmingly disastrous in recent years.
The political parties and public opinion of the country that participated in the elections significantly demanded that members of the electoral commission’s leadership, including Mr. Ziaulhaq Amarkhail, should be tried in court, which did not happen.
Yusuf Nuristani was the chairman of the election commission and Amarkhil was a senior member of the commission. As the political parties and the people of Afghanistan at that time said, the two were a close agent of the president and had the mission to fill the ballot boxes in favor of Mr. Ashraf Ghani.
President Ghani had long ago wanted to appoint Yusuf Nuristani as Kabul ambassador in one of the foreign countries, which, according to reports, received oppositions of the Foreign Minister Salahuddin Rabbani. Sources close to the ministry said that Mr Rabbani told the president to try Noristani instead of appointing him as an ambassador.
On the verge of the upcoming presidential election, president Ghani likes to take the power for another 5 years more than any other figure in the country. He has tasted the seat by monopolizing the power.
Now, it seems that president Ghani wants to use the experience of Mr Amarkhail in an election once again.
Some sources argue that president Ghani may appoint Mr Amarkhail as one of the members of the election commission. They believe that Ghani intends to use from the experience of a former senior member of the IEC in the upcoming presidential election.
