DID Press: UN Secretary-General and Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) have welcomed the launch of Iran–US talks in Oman, stressing the importance of diplomacy, de-escalation, and a peaceful resolution to nuclear-related disputes.

UN Secretary-General António Guterres said he hopes the negotiations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States will help ease regional tensions and prevent a wider crisis. He reaffirmed that the United Nations consistently supports de-escalation and the peaceful settlement of disputes in line with the UN Charter.
IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi also expressed support for diplomatic efforts on the nuclear issue. Speaking to Russia 24, Grossi said the Agency’s position on Iran is centered on bringing the parties back to the negotiating table and reaching an agreement that would allow the full return of IAEA inspectors to Iran.
Grossi added that the Agency remains ready to deploy inspectors to monitor Iran’s nuclear facilities and emphasized that inspectors are prepared at any time to visit key sites. According to him, sustained diplomacy could pave the way for broader technical and oversight cooperation between Iran and the IAEA.
