Mag 5.4 Earthquake Strikes Badakhshan, Tremors Felt in Kabul
DID Press: European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) reported that a magnitude 5.4 earthquake struck parts of Afghanistan’s Badakhshan province early Saturday morning, with tremors also felt in the capital, Kabul.

According to reports, the earthquake occurred at approximately 6:54 a.m. local time, with its epicenter located about 106 kilometers southeast of the city of Faizabad.
The tremor was felt not only in Badakhshan but also in Kabul and several other provinces, prompting residents to briefly leave their homes.
The quake was recorded at an average depth of around 125 kilometers beneath the Earth’s surface, a depth that, from a technical standpoint, can allow seismic waves to be felt across a wider geographic area.
So far, no casualties or property damage have been officially reported. However, local sources indicate that residents in nearby area experienced noticeable shaking during the early morning hours.
