Displaced Palestinians in Gaza Living Amid Poverty and Severe Pollution

DID Press: Hundreds of displaced Palestinian families in Gaza are living in harsh and inhumane conditions, staying in deteriorated tents near waste disposal sites amid the ongoing humanitarian crisis.

As the number of displaced people continues to rise in the Gaza Strip, many families—due to the lack of safe shelter—have been forced to settle in temporary, fragile tents located in peripheral areas close to garbage dumps.

These areas, which lack basic urban infrastructure, are facing severe environmental and public health challenges. Accumulated waste, foul odors, the spread of insects, and the presence of rodents have made living conditions extremely difficult and raised fears of infectious disease outbreaks.

Displaced residents say their access to clean water, sufficient food, and medical services is extremely limited, placing children and the elderly at serious risk.

They also report that the absence of proper heating and cooling systems in these tents has worsened living conditions under varying weather conditions.

Residents have called on humanitarian organizations to urgently address the crisis, while international observers have warned of the deepening humanitarian emergency in Gaza and its consequences for civilians.
