NYC Mayor Criticizes US Policy, Questions Massive Military Spending

DID Press: Zohran Mamdani, Mayor of New York City, has sharply criticized U.S. federal policy, questioning what he described as disproportionate military spending compared to domestic needs.

He stated: “We are told it is impossible for the city to run a grocery store, while more than 500 million dollars are spent daily to kill people in Iran and Lebanon.”

Mamdani further claimed that the U.S. federal government has spent nearly 30 billion dollars on military operations, while many citizens—particularly working-class families—continue to struggle with basic living costs.

The New York mayor argued that this allocation of resources requires fundamental reconsideration and called for greater attention to domestic economic and social priorities.

The remarks come amid ongoing debates in the United States over defense spending and its impact on internal economic conditions and public welfare.
