Uzbekistan Sets New Tourism Record With Strong Afghan Visitor Growth
DID Press: Uzbekistan recorded a significant surge in tourism in 2026, with Afghanistan emerging as a major contributor after more than 161,000 Afghan citizens traveled to the country for tourism purposes, according to official statistics.

The Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan reported that 161,537 Afghan nationals visited the country between January and April 2026.
Overall, 4,048,000 foreign tourists entered Uzbekistan during the same period, marking an increase of around 30 percent, or approximately 930,000 visitors, compared to the same period in 2025.
According to the report, Kyrgyzstan led with 1,141,000 visitors, followed by Tajikistan with 965,000 and Kazakhstan with 935,000 tourists. Afghanistan also ranked among the top five source countries for inbound tourism.
