Pakistan Says Key TTP Commander Killed in Balochistan Raid

DID Press: Pakistani security forces say a key commander linked to the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) was killed during an intelligence-based operation in Pishin district of Balochistan province, while an Afghan associate was arrested.

According to Pakistani security sources, the operation was carried out in the Shaban area of Pishin district. During the raid, a militant identified as “Basir,” son of “Norullah,” described by officials as an Afghan commander within the group, was killed.

Pakistani media, citing security officials, reported that Basir was allegedly responsible for planning and coordinating several attacks against security forces and for leading infiltration teams attempting to enter through the Shaban region.

Authorities also stated that one Afghan associate of the commander was detained during the operation.

The Pakistani government refers to TTP members as “Fitna al-Khawarij,” a term increasingly used by state institutions in official statements.

Security sources further noted that on 22 February this year, Pakistani forces killed five suicide attackers linked to the TTP in Pishin district, who were reportedly operating under Basir’s command.
