EU-Backed Initiative Creates 53 Local Businesses in Bamyan
DID Press: The European Union delegation in Afghanistan announced progress in a community development initiative in Yakawlang district of Bamyan province, following a meeting with a group of women entrepreneurs.

According to information released by the mission, the program—implemented in cooperation with the Aga Khan Development Network—has so far supported 53 local businesses opportunities in the district.
The initiative also includes training for participating women in leadership and business management skills, aimed at strengthening their role in local economic activities and improving community-level entrepreneurship.
The EU mission in Afghanistan said that investments under the program have been rotated three times among beneficiaries, helping ensure continued financial support for women-led enterprises and sustaining economic activity within the community.
Program officials described the initiative as an example of community-led entrepreneurship and development, noting that it contributes to enhancing women’s participation in the local economy and expanding their role in social and economic decision-making.
