Taliban Calls for Better Coordination on Returnee Migrant Support

DID Press: Mohammad Abdul Kabir has called for enhanced coordination among government institutions to accelerate assistance for returning migrants, amid a growing influx of returnees.

According to the Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation, the minister made the remarks during a meeting attended by officials, provincial governors, security commanders, and community elders, where the situation of returnees and existing challenges in resettlement and support services were discussed.

Participants also focused on improving inter-agency coordination and strengthening the role of local authorities in facilitating aid delivery to returnees.

Abdul Kabir stressed that supporting returnees is not the responsibility of a single ministry but requires collective action from all government institutions within their respective mandates.

He emphasized that providing basic services, facilitating housing, and ensuring access to essential resources are key priorities that demand coordinated efforts across all sectors.

The minister further highlighted the importance of cooperation between local officials, community leaders, and government bodies to identify the needs of returnees and speed up the delivery of assistance.

Other participants in the meeting presented suggestions on improving support mechanisms, while also acknowledging existing efforts by the Taliban administration in managing returnee issues.

The meeting took place as the issue of reintegration and support for returning migrants continues to be a significant concern for Afghan authorities.
