Ashraf Ghani Mourns Death of Grand Ayatollah Fayyad
DID Press: Former Afghanistan President Ashraf Ghani has expressed condolences following the death of Grand Ayatollah Mohammad Ishaq Fayyad, one of the most senior Shia clerics and sources of emulation in the Islamic world.

In a statement, Ghani said Fayyad, who was originally from Afghanistan, spent decades in Iraq engaged in religious scholarship, teaching, and the training of students, eventually becoming one of the leading Shia marjas.
The former president extended his sympathies to Fayyad’s family, students, and followers, describing his death as a significant loss for the religious and academic community of the Muslim world.
Grand Ayatollah Fayyad was a senior figure in the Najaf seminary and a widely respected authority in Shia Islam, known for his long career in religious teaching and research.
