Nearly 20,000 Carats of Emeralds Extracted and Sold in Panjshir
DID Press: Local Taliban authorities in Panjshir Province have announced that nearly 20,000 carats of emeralds have been extracted and sold through official auctions since the beginning of the 1405 fiscal year, generating more than $424,000 in revenue.

According to provincial officials, a total of 19,846 carats of emeralds were extracted from Panjshir’s mines and subsequently sold through authorized auction processes. The total value of the gemstones was estimated at $424,220.
Local authorities stated that mining activities have expanded in recent months as efforts to manage and develop the province’s mineral resources have intensified.
Officials added that increased extraction operations and greater oversight of mining activities have contributed to a significant rise in revenues from the sector.
Panjshir is known for its high-quality emerald deposits, which are considered among Afghanistan’s most valuable gemstone resources and have long attracted domestic and international traders.
