DID Press: Following the passing of prominent Shia religious authority, Grand Ayatollah Mohammad Ishaq Fayyad, his son has announced the cessation of all affiliated offices in Afghanistan.

In an official statement, Hujjat al-Islam Sheikh Mahmoud Fayyad said that with the passing of his father, all administrative and religious offices linked to him in Afghanistan have been closed. He added that religious affairs and jurisprudential inquiries for followers will now be handled through the office of Grand Ayatollah Sayed Ali al-Sistani.
The statement thanked followers and scholars for their condolences and urged believers to refer their religious matters to authorized representatives of Grand Ayatollah Sistani moving forward. Grand Ayatollah Fayyad, a prominent scholar of the Najaf seminary, passed away after decades of teaching and religious leadership, holding significant influence among Shia communities in Afghanistan and the wider region.
