DID Press: Iran has announced a series of military and security measures following what it described as US attacks on targets in southern Iran, including retaliatory strikes against regional military facilities and the declaration of a closure of the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz.

According to statements attributed to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, Iranian forces launched missile and drone operations against military facilities associated with the United States in the Gulf region. Iranian officials described the operation as the first phase of a broader response and warned that any further escalation would trigger stronger measures.
In a separate statement, the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters reportedly declared the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, citing security concerns resulting from the confrontation. The statement said commercial and energy-related maritime traffic would be affected by the decision.
Regional media reported explosions and the activation of air-defense systems in parts of the Gulf, while additional reports suggested heightened military alert levels across several countries. Independent verification of battlefield claims from all sides remained limited.
At the diplomatic level, Iran’s representatives reiterated that Tehran views its actions as defensive measures taken in response to external attacks. Iranian officials also argued that sustainable agreements cannot be achieved through pressure or military threats.
Energy markets reacted swiftly to the developments, with traders closely monitoring the security situation around the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important energy transit routes.
The latest developments mark a significant escalation in regional tensions and have heightened international concern about the potential impact on security, maritime trade, and global energy supplies.
