UN Food Aid Reaches Afghan Children After 15,000-Km Journey
DID Press: World Food Programme (WFP) has confirmed that a 397-ton shipment of fortified biscuits has reached Afghanistan after traveling nearly 15,000 kilometers across seven international borders to support children in vulnerable communities.

The World Food Programme said the emergency food consignment was funded by a $3.5 million contribution from the Government of Indonesia and is intended to help meet nutritional needs of schoolchildren in underserved regions of Afghanistan.
According to WFP, the shipment originated in Indonesia and faced significant logistical challenges during transit, including border restrictions and route disruptions that forced humanitarian convoys to take longer and more complex paths.
Officials noted that the closure of the Pakistan border and limitations on alternative routes extended the delivery process, turning what is typically a regional shipment into a multi-stage international journey crossing seven borders.
Despite these obstacles, the aid eventually arrived safely and will be distributed to children in high-need areas, particularly school-based nutrition programs aimed at improving child health and learning conditions.
