Teen Dies from Injuries After Herat Protest Crackdown
DID Press: A 16-year-old boy injured during the suppression of protests in western Afghanistan’s Herat province has died after several days in hospital, local sources confirmed.

Local residents said the teenager, identified as Mortaza, was shot during demonstrations in the Jebrail area of Herat on June 9 and later transferred to the provincial hospital in critical condition. Despite medical efforts, he succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday.
The United Nations had previously confirmed the death of another teenage boy during the same wave of protests, which erupted following public anger over the detention of women by Taliban authorities and were met with forceful dispersal operations.
