Pakistan Rejects Taliban Claim of Anti-ISIS Strikes

DID Press: Government of Pakistan has dismissed Taliban claims that drone strikes were carried out against ISIS positions inside Pakistan, describing the allegations as “false” and “propaganda,” while stating that a Taliban-operated drone was intercepted after entering Pakistani airspace.

In an official statement, Pakistan’s information authorities rejected reports that the Taliban had conducted drone operations against alleged ISIS bases in the provinces of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.

The Taliban had previously claimed that its forces used drones to target ISIS positions on Pakistani territory. Islamabad, however, described the claim as entirely unfounded and accused the Taliban of spreading misleading information.

Pakistani officials further asserted that the primary hub of terrorist activity remains inside Afghanistan and alleged that multiple militant groups, including ISIS affiliates, continue to operate there.

The statement also confirmed that a small drone allegedly linked to the Taliban entered Pakistani airspace near the Khyber border region and was detected and shot down by Pakistan’s air defense systems. Security sources said the drone appeared to have limited capabilities and may have been used for reconnaissance purposes.

Border tensions between Pakistan and the Taliban administration have intensified in recent months. Islamabad has repeatedly expressed concern over the presence of militants, including members of the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan, inside Afghanistan, while the Taliban has denied the allegations and accused Pakistan of shifting blame for its security challenges.
