DID Press: Russia has announced that two Tu-160 strategic bombers carried out a 16-hour flight mission over international waters above the Barents Sea and the Norwegian Sea, underscoring Moscow’s long-range airpower capabilities.

According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, the two Tupolev Tu-160 strategic bombers conducted the extended patrol over international airspace. The ministry stated that all flights by Russia’s Aerospace Forces are carried out in accordance with international rules and regulations governing the use of airspace.

The Tu-160, known as the world’s largest operational supersonic strategic bomber, is capable of carrying both conventional and nuclear weapons. Military data indicate that the aircraft has a range of up to 14,000 km and a maximum speed of approximately 2,200 km/h, enabling it to conduct long-distance strategic missions.

Such patrols are regularly highlighted by Moscow as part of its strategic deterrence posture and long-range aviation operations in northern regions.
