Flash Floods Ravage Homes and Farmland in Kunar
DID Press: Flash floods triggered by heavy rainfall swept through several districts of Afghanistan’s eastern Kunar province on Friday, destroying dozens of homes, farmland, irrigation canals and sections of local roads, according to local officials and residents.

The flooding affected the districts of Chapa Dara, Pech Dara, Kunar, Sarkano and Nurgal, as well as the provincial capital, Asadabad.Local sources said the floods caused extensive damage to residential properties, agricultural land and infrastructure, while also killing livestock.
No human casualties have been reported in Kunar so far.Residents said many families have lost their homes and livelihoods and voiced concern over the lack of immediate emergency assistance. They warned that continued rainfall could worsen the situation.
Taliban officials from Kunar’s provincial disaster management department confirmed the flooding and the resulting property damage but have not yet released detailed assessments of losses or announced relief measures.
Meanwhile, in neighboring Nangarhar province, floodwaters reportedly claimed the life of a 13-year-old child, highlighting growing concerns over the impact of heavy seasonal rains in eastern Afghanistan.
