IRGC Missile Retaliation Targets US Facilities as Gulf States Raise Security Alert

DID Press: Security tensions escalated across the Gulf early Sunday after Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced a joint missile and drone operation targeting US military facilities in Kuwait and Bahrain, prompting heightened security measures and air-defense responses in both countries.

According to the IRGC, the operation was launched in response to reported US strikes on five Iranian coastal positions earlier in the day. The force said key US military infrastructure at Ali Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait and facilities near Salman Port in Bahrain had been targeted in what it described as a “decisive response” to recent American actions.

The Kuwaiti military said explosions reported in the country were linked to the interception of what it called “hostile targets” by air-defense systems. Authorities stated that defensive operations against missile and drone threats were continuing and that security forces remained on high alert.

In Bahrain, the Interior Ministry confirmed the activation of emergency warning sirens and urged residents to seek shelter in the nearest safe locations. Local reports indicated that several explosions were heard near US military installations, while security forces were deployed across the island.

In a separate statement, the IRGC said that navigation through the Strait of Hormuz remains under Iran’s control and warned that vessels deemed in violation of regulations would face stricter measures.

The commander of the IRGC Navy also said that recent US actions would not affect Iran’s oversight of the strategic waterway and warned that American military facilities in the region could face further consequences if tensions continue to rise.

The latest developments have significantly increased the level of security alert across the Gulf region, with analysts warning of a potentially dangerous new phase in regional tensions.
