Herat Hosts Regional Meeting to Promote Domestic Production and Exports
DID Press: A meeting focused on supporting domestic production was held in Herat with the participation of local officials, regional representatives, international organizations, and business leaders, emphasizing product quality improvement, export expansion, and transit cooperation.

The event was organized at the Foreign Ministry office in Herat and attended by Mohammad Islamjar, representatives of regional countries, international bodies, traders, and local officials.
Organizers said the aim of the conference was to showcase Afghanistan’s production capacity to diplomatic missions and foreign institutions, while facilitating access of local products to international markets.
Islamjar urged industrialists to improve product quality to enhance competitiveness in regional markets. He also announced plans for a $2 million agreement with Turkmenistan related to the use of domestic products and stressed the importance of expanding transit cooperation with neighboring countries.
The head of Herat’s Chamber of Industries and Mines said about 1,350 factories are currently active in the province’s industrial zone, with 115 companies exporting goods abroad. He added that a 10% discount has been offered to international organizations for purchasing local products.
Experts and university lecturers at the event stressed the importance of sustained support for domestic producers and the continuation of such initiatives to promote Afghanistan’s industrial capacity and boost exports.
