DID Press: Kremlin has described NATO’s decision to characterize Russia as a threat as an “aggressive move,” saying Moscow will continue strengthening its capabilities and pursue its current policies in response.

Dmitry Peskov, spokesperson for the Kremlin, told the Russian television channel Vesti that NATO’s position requires Russia to rely on its own capabilities while advancing technological development, economic resilience, and the protection of its national interests.
Peskov said that labeling another country as a rival or a threat amounts to an aggressive action, adding that such a stance compels Russia to remain strong, confident, and steadfast in implementing its policies.
He also argued that NATO has remained a confrontational alliance since its establishment, stating that the former Soviet Union—and later the Russian Federation—has consistently been regarded as its principal adversary.
Commenting on the Patriot air defense system, Peskov said Russian authorities are taking all necessary measures to protect the country and counter such capabilities.
He added that Russia’s leadership and relevant institutions are fully aware of the required steps and are implementing all measures deemed necessary to safeguard the country’s interests.
