DID Press: The Nation has argued that US President Donald Trump is unwilling to acknowledge failure in the conflict with Iran, warning that the fighting risks continuing because of his refusal to accept strategic setbacks.
In an analysis, the American magazine wrote that a costly and destructive war is being prolonged because, in its words, “an 80-year-old narcissist” is unable to confront the reality of defeat.
According to the report, nearly five months after the United States launched what it describes as a war of choice against Iran, Washington has made no meaningful progress toward its stated objectives. The publication further argues that Trump effectively accepted a strategic setback on 17 June, describing it as a de facto capitulation.
The analysis concludes that the United States now faces three difficult options: continuing a prolonged war of attrition, returning to negotiations, or launching a large-scale ground war against a country of 90 million people.
