Taliban Official Threatens Renewed Suicide Attacks Against Opponents, Pakistan

DID Press: A senior Taliban military commander has warned that the group is prepared to resume suicide attacks against its armed opponents, while accusing Pakistan of attempting to undermine the Taliban administration.

Abdul Hakim Mohammad Nezami, deputy commander of the Taliban’s 201st Khalid bin Walid Corps, made the remarks amid growing activity by armed groups opposed to the Taliban. He claimed Taliban forces had pursued and suppressed opponents “even in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa,” and said the group had consistently delivered what he described as a “crushing response.”

Nezami did not provide evidence or further details to support his claims. He also accused Pakistan of once again seeking to weaken the Taliban government.

Addressing anti-Taliban armed groups, Nezami said Western-backed forces had fought in Afghanistan for 20 years without achieving their objectives and warned that those operating under “various resistance” banners should understand that the Taliban remains prepared to carry out suicide attacks.

The remarks come as several anti-Taliban groups, including the National Resistance Front (NRF) and the Afghanistan Freedom Front (AFF), have reported increased activity in recent months. Newly announced groups, including the United Front of Afghanistan and Sepahiyan-e Watan, have also claimed to expand their operations.

Relations between Kabul and Islamabad remain strained. The Taliban has repeatedly accused Pakistan of supporting armed opposition groups, allegations Islamabad denies. Pakistan, in turn, accuses the Taliban of providing sanctuary to the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and Baloch separatist militants.
