Five Flood Protection Projects Launched in Kandahar’s Spin Boldak District

DID Press: Local authorities have announced the launch of five disaster mitigation projects in Spin Boldak District, aimed at reducing flood risks and improving local infrastructure.

According to the provincial disaster preparedness authority, the projects are being implemented with AFN 12 million in funding from the International Organization for Migration.

The projects include the construction of 250 meters of retaining wall in the district center, another 250-meter retaining wall in the Zra Jamea area, a 6.6-meter bridge in the village of Zabihullah, a 550-meter stone-lined canal in the Shiro Karez area, and nearly 400 meters of stone-lined canal in the Wanka area.

Officials said the projects are intended to reduce the impact of seasonal flooding while contributing to improved economic and social conditions for residents of Spin Boldak.
