Taliban: Afghanistan-Tajikistan Border Is Secure

DID Press: Taliban has rejected concerns raised by the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) over security along the Afghanistan-Tajikistan border, saying there is no security threat in the area and that the border remains under full control.

Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid said security had been ensured across Afghanistan and that there was no threat along the country’s border with Tajikistan.

Mujahid said Taliban and Tajik security forces were coordinating with each other and would prevent any suspicious movement or destabilizing activity. He described reports of insecurity in the area as “unfounded” and said the border situation was “fully under control.”

The statement comes after the CSTO recently warned of potential security threats along Tajikistan’s southern borders, amid concerns over militant activity and instability originating from Afghanistan.
