Mujahid: Afghanistan Will Not Abandon Its Neighbors

DID Press: Zabihullah Mujahid, spokesman for the Taliban government, said Afghanistan would not allow its territory to be used to threaten any neighboring country and would stand by its neighbors during difficult times.

Mujahid said Afghanistan has a responsibility to maintain “positive and reliable engagement” with neighboring states and stressed that no country would be threatened from Afghan territory.

His remarks followed recent comments by Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, who praised Afghanistan’s position during the recent conflict involving Iran and said Kabul had prevented its territory from being used for actions against Iran.

Pezeshkian had also highlighted the role of neighboring countries in supporting Iran during what he described as the U.S.-imposed war against the country.

Mujahid’s comments come amid efforts by Kabul and Tehran to maintain close security and political coordination, particularly over the use of Afghan territory and regional security.
