Iran’s Supreme Leader Calls for Stronger Domestic Production, Social Unity

DID Press: Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei, has called for addressing economic challenges, strengthening domestic production, drawing on the capabilities of young experts, preserving social cohesion and resisting foreign pressure and sanctions in a message marking Government Week.

Khamenei praised the government and state institutions for their efforts to meet public needs and manage the country’s affairs under difficult circumstances.

Referring to restrictions, sanctions and what he called the “U.S.-Israeli enemy’s schemes,” he commended measures taken to ensure the supply of essential goods and services, repair damaged infrastructure and manage energy resources.

The Supreme Leader also stressed the need to explain and highlight Iran’s capabilities and achievements, saying that alongside efforts to address shortcomings and problems, the country’s strengths and potential should also be presented to the public.

On the economic front, he identified inflation, unemployment, market management and prices as major challenges, calling for economic growth, increased investment, expanded production and the implementation of “resistance economy” policies. He said greater reliance on domestic production was among the key ways to overcome economic difficulties.

Khamenei also said Iran’s adversaries seek to create the perception that the country’s development and prosperity can only be achieved by complying with their demands, arguing that historical experience has shown such an approach has not benefited the Iranian people.

He identified the use of new technologies and the capabilities of young experts as important drivers of national development, saying innovation could contribute to progress in areas including agriculture, industry, culture and communications.

National unity and social cohesion were also central themes of the message. Khamenei said major decisions and policies should take their social consequences into account and that any measure that undermines national solidarity should be prohibited because it would harm the country.

He also warned against political and social divisions that could fuel public frustration and weaken social cohesion, stressing the need to preserve consensus and unity.

Khamenei concluded by describing culture and education as strategic national priorities and called for greater attention to the role of teachers, university professors, healthcare workers and families in educating and raising the next generation.
